There were two challenges with this project. The first was
to place a 7,000 sq.ft. (650 m2) building on a small, wooded urban lot. The
second was to evolve an aesthetic which was contemporary but also fit with the
towns historical homes and churches. |
| To fit the lot the plan was given a saw tooth
configuration which allowed the building to step around the trees and the war
memorial. |
| The exterior design took design elements and materials
from the town's historical buildings and combined them in a more contemporary
manner. The result is a community library which fits well into the fabric of the
community and which also functions perfectly. |
