LAKE CITY CASINOS
Stockman Hotel, Kamloops, British Columbia,
Canada
Initially we were deeply involved in the negotiations for adequate space within
the existing hotel and for control of access to the casino spaces and to those
shared by the casino and the hotel. These included the underground parking,
basement storage and back-up electrical generator.

CONCEPT-RECEPTION
We then undertook a detailed design which was presented and approved by the
various levels of government. With the exterior the challenge was to design an
entrance which fit with the existing hotel yet provided a distinct entrance for
the casino. This was done by cutting into an existing rock wall on the hotel
exterior.

DOORS
For the 15,000 sq.ft. (1,400 m2) interior we turned to the past. Kamloops has
its historical roots as a cattle center which is reflected in the name of the
hotel. We therefore chose the theme for the casino as that of a late 1800's
Dance Hall.
